2 Inauguration Days

Postby medicmike » Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:34 am

So the "real" swearing in ceremony was on Sunday and the dog and pony show on Monday was just for the press.

I would sure be interested to know what transpired and what was sworn to in the private ceremony!

Seems everything this admin does is shrouded in some kind of secrecy.

Obama begins term with private swearing-in ceremony
Barack Obama started his second term as U.S. president by taking the oath of office in a private ceremony in the White House. This inauguration was scaled back compared with his first, a reflection of tempered expectations amid persistently high unemployment, ongoing political battles and other issues.

Heard Lars Larson talking about that on his radio show last night. It has only happened just a few times in history, but by law the elected President has to be sworn in by Jan. 20. Since Jan. 20 was on a Sunday this year, he was sworn in in a private ceremony to meet those requirements. As you said, Monday was only for the press.

A 220,000,000.00 dog and pony show. That is equal to 3 moochelle vacations.
